Writing this newsletter is one of the most rewarding activities of my week and one of the most difficult (this edition #122).
My process is very simple and goes back to my days as a reporter on a news show.
The closer I am to “air”, the easier it is to write or put an idea on paper.
As a result, I do not write on Monday or Tuesday. I have been writing on Saturday, the day before I share with all of you.
Throughout the week I collect ideas, and by Friday I start to put to organize them on paper before sitting in front of the computer.
Many times, my mind has nothing. I check my notes and there is no idea that could help me overcome this challenge.
However, for this edition, I quickly realized that I wanted to write about a couple of stories that caught my eye.
Two pieces of good news that say a lot about where our industry is going. One comes from a college creator. The other from a women-led team building a new platform for learning and visibility.
A student-driven radio initiative

Anna shared an update about a college radio initiative she has been building. What stood out to me is the persistence. Months of work. Real coordination. A focus on creating opportunity for students to learn by doing.
Why it matters
Student projects are pipelines. They give new talent real reps, not just theory.
Radio remains a powerful training ground for storytelling, consistency, and editorial discipline.
When students organize and build, they shift from “please include me” to “we made this.”
What to do next
If you work at a university or partner with one, reach out and ask how your team can support.
If you hire freelancers, keep a list of student-run programs that produce reliable people.
If you are early in your career, study how they set it up and copy the parts that fit your context.
A women-led podcast growing skills and access

This team is building a conversation space for women in media, tech, and entertainment. The goal is simple: skills, access, visibility, and community. Episodes and live conversations highlight practical ways to grow.
Why it matters
Up skilling is not optional. The tools change fast.
Visibility compounds. Sharing wins and lessons brings more people in.
Community reduces the drop-off we see when talented people do not see a path forward.
What to do next
Listen and share an episode with one colleague who will benefit.
Invite a teammate to join you for a lunch-and-listen session.
If you lead a team, consider sponsoring or amplifying their work so more people can learn.
A bigger point
Both of these stories are about people who decided to build. No perfect timing. No perfect budget. Start small, learn in public, and invite others to join. That is how we keep the craft moving.
If you have similar news, reply and send it. I want to keep a running list of projects that deserve more attention.
I am happy to help amplify good news, and it also helps me keep this newsletter going.
A big shoutout to Shaheen Gould, who became a Founding Member of this newsletter last weekend.
She is a great professional based out of the Middle East. She is also starting her own project as a career mentor and speaker, and I cannot wait to hear the stories of those who would benefit from her guidance and help.
See you all next week.
